Future Homes Europe è la call internazionale rivolta a progettiste e progettisti under 35, promossa nell’ambito del Festival di Architettura 2026.

Una call che invita a confrontarsi con i principi di accessibilità, sostenibilità, innovazione e adattabilità, trasformandoli in visioni progettuali concrete. Termine per la presentazione della domanda: 29 maggio 2026 alle ore 12.00.

Call under 35 per ripensare l’abitare contemporaneo

Future Homes Europe è la call internazionale rivolta a progettiste e progettisti under 35, promossa nell’ambito del Festival di Architettura 2026 – Chi abiterà le case vuote?, in programma a Torino il 7, 8 e 9 luglio all’Ex Mercato Ittico di Porta Palazzo.

Oggi il modo in cui viviamo sta cambiando rapidamente. Studenti, lavoratori e famiglie si muovono più spesso, restano meno a lungo nello stesso luogo e si confrontano con nuove opportunità ma anche con crescenti difficoltà. Nel frattempo, nelle città europee i costi dell’abitare continuano ad aumentare e l’accesso alla casa diventa sempre più complesso, con una quota significativa della popolazione che destina una parte rilevante del proprio reddito alle spese abitative.

In questo scenario, la questione abitativa non può più essere letta soltanto in termini economici. Le trasformazioni climatiche, la transizione digitale e l’evoluzione dei modelli sociali richiedono un ripensamento più ampio del concetto di abitare. La casa diventa così un’infrastruttura sociale, uno spazio che deve essere accessibile, sostenibile e capace di adattarsi a esigenze in continuo cambiamento.

La call si inserisce nel quadro dell’European Affordable Housing Plan 2025 della Commissione Europea, che promuove un approccio integrato basato sull’incremento dell’offerta abitativa, sul rafforzamento degli investimenti e su riforme orientate a una maggiore equità del sistema.

In questo contesto, la call Future Homes Europe invita i giovani progettisti a confrontarsi con i principi di accessibilità, sostenibilità, innovazione e adattabilità, trasformandoli in visioni progettuali concrete. L’obiettivo non è solo rispondere alla carenza di alloggi, ma ridefinire il significato stesso dell’abitare contemporaneo, inteso come spazio fisico e dispositivo sociale, culturale e ambientale.

Il termine ultimo per la presentazione della domanda è fissato a: venerdì 29 maggio 2026 ore 12.00.

La call si inserisce nel programma del Festival di Architettura “Chi abiterà le case vuote?”, ideato e curato dalla Fondazione per l’architettura / Torino e dall’Ordine degli Architetti della Provincia di Torino. Call under 35 to rethink contemporary living

Future Homes Europe is part of the “Who will live in the empty houses?” Architecture Festival, created and curated by the Fondazione per l’architettura / Torino and the Order of Architects PPC of the Province of Turin. The initiative, dedicated to the theme of contemporary living, will take place in Turin, at the Former Fish Market in Porta Palazzo (Ex Mercato Ittico di Porta Palazzo), on 7, 8 and 9 July 2026. Participation is open to candidates aged under 35, from both national and international backgrounds.

Today, the way we live is changing faster than ever before. Students, workers and families are moving around more, staying in one place for shorter periods, and facing new opportunities and uncertainties. Meanwhile, cities are becoming more expensive, space is harder to find, and the very concept of ‘home’ is changing. With rising prices, ever-higher rents and often insufficient incomes, access to housing has become a daily challenge for many: in the European Union, in recent years, house prices and rents have risen significantly, whilst a growing proportion of the urban population spends over 40% of their income on essential housing costs. This situation highlights a growing imbalance between incomes, costs and the availability of adequate housing solutions.

However, the housing issue cannot be reduced to a purely economic dimension. Climate change, the digital transition and evolving social models demand a comprehensive rethinking of the concept of housing. A house is no longer just an asset to buy or rent: it is a space that must be sustainable, accessible and capable of adapting to new models.

The European Commission’s European Affordable Housing Plan 2025 fits into this framework, promoting an integrated approach based on increasing the housing supply and strengthening public and private investment.

In this context, the call invites designers aged under 35 to develop visions, scenarios and design proposals for the future of affordable housing in Europe.

The aim is not merely to address a housing shortage, but to radically rethink the very meaning of contemporary living: as a physical space, but also as a social, cultural and environmental framework.
